Plan-managed and self-managed participants

Exercise Physiology for NDIS participants

Exercise physiology is commonly funded under Improved Daily Living or Improved Health and Wellbeing. Programs are built around the goals written into your plan, and delivered wherever you already spend your time.

Built around your NDIS plan goals

Motus works with plan-managed and self-managed participants. Sessions happen in your home, your local gym, a community centre or outdoors — whichever setting makes the work transfer most directly into your daily life.

The starting point is always the plan itself. If a goal is getting in and out of the car without help, the program targets exactly that: the strength, the movement pattern and the confidence it takes. Progress is measured against things you can see change, not against numbers that only make sense in a clinic.

Sessions run where the goal actually lives — the home, the local gym, a community space — so the work transfers straight into daily life rather than staying inside a clinic. We work at the pace the person in front of us sets, and involve family or support workers wherever that helps the program hold between visits.

Who this suits

James and a client doing banded side steps together on a grassy oval
  • Plan-managed and self-managed participants with Improved Daily Living or Improved Health and Wellbeing funding
  • People working towards goals around mobility, strength, independence or getting out into the community
  • Participants who would rather work in their own home, gym or community than in a clinic
  • Families and support workers looking for a program that can be reinforced between sessions
  • Anyone whose plan goals involve movement, and who wants those goals worked on directly

The process

Four stages, from your plan goals through to the reporting your coordinator needs.

Book an assessment

How the plan is managed, which goals exercise physiology would support, and your plan manager's details if you are plan-managed.

We meet you in the setting the program will use. The assessment covers function, movement and the specific tasks your goals are about — with support workers or family there if you would like.

If the goal is getting in and out of the car unaided, the program targets exactly that: the strength, the movement pattern and the confidence it takes. Progress is measured against things you can see change.

Sessions progress as capacity builds, and reporting to your plan manager, support coordinator or other therapists is provided as required.
